Vendaval Cabernet Sauvignon Gran Reserva is an intense ruby-red wine with aromas of black currants, blueberries, and spices. It is full-bodied with ripe tannins and a long finish, making it an excellent match for spicy red meats, wild fowl, and aged cheeses. This wine has great aging potential and offers excellent value. Vendaval’s Gran Reserva hails from Chile's Maipo Valley, known for its exceptional terroir. Established 35 years ago, the vineyards thrive on alluvial soils with low natural fertility. The region's significant day-night temperature fluctuations and cold air from the Andes promote slow grape ripening, while deep soils support unrestricted root development, enhancing the wine’s complexity. The wine is crafted through careful vinification, starting with hand-picking and cold maceration for five days, followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at 26°C to 28°C. After a three-week maceration, it ages for 14 months in first and second-use French oak barrels, where malolactic fermentation occurs.
