Scar of the Sea Bassi Vineyard Pinot Gris – Pinot Noir is a co-fermented blend from California's San Luis Obispo Coast, crafted from 55% Pinot Gris and 45% Pinot Noir. Grown in organically farmed Bassi Vineyard, this wine captures the coastal terroir with aromas of coastal strawberry, rhubarb, and blood orange, complemented by wild herbs and salt air. On the palate, it offers bright red berry fruit, crushed rose petals, and a mineral tension that reflects the vineyard’s sandstone roots. A crisp, clean finish adds to its freshness. The wine is made with native yeast, fermented with whole cluster Pinot Gris and destemmed Pinot Noir, then aged for 8 months in neutral French oak. Scar of the Sea, founded by Mikey and Gina Giugni, focuses on minimal intervention and sustainability, creating wines that reflect the natural world and their coastal surroundings. With just 168 cases produced, this wine is ideal for those seeking complexity in a fresh, coastal style, pairing well with seafood, smoked salmon, or herbed cheeses.
