Domaine Gérard Raphet Bourgogne Rouge ‘Les Grands Champs’ is a finely crafted Pinot Noir from a prized lieu-dit in Gevrey-Chambertin, bordered by village-level vineyards. Despite its delicate ruby hue, it offers striking depth and intensity, with aromas of red berries, autumn leaves, and warm spices, followed by flavors of pomegranate jam, blood orange, and red cherry. Made by the Raphet family—Burgundy traditionalists for four generations—the wine comes from 40+ year-old vines, fermented with native yeasts and aged 18 months in neutral French oak. Bottled unfined and unfiltered as a North Berkeley “Cuvée Unique” selection, it’s a soulful, expressive red ideal with roast pork, chicken, or subtly spiced fare.
