Intellego Chenin Blanc (Swartland, SA) '21

The Intellego Chenin Blanc is a natural wine crafted by Jurgen Gouws from bush vines planted in 2002 in the Swartland. Fermented in old 500L French foudres, the wine spends 11 months on lees, which adds texture while maintaining acidity and freshness. The grapes are sourced from a dry-farmed vineyard on decomposed granite soils in the Paardeberg region. The wine showcases steamed green apple, honeyed citrus florals, and a salty minerality, making it a perfect food wine, ideal with a cheese plate or shrimp cocktail. The wine is minimally intervened, with only a touch of sulfur added before bottling. Intellego is known for producing wines that truly reflect the terroir of Swartland, with a focus on climate and site expression.
