From estate vines in Templeton Gap, this Cabernet displays an opaque purple core with scarlet highlights. The explosive nose combines black currant, violet pastille, and freshly rolled cigar tobacco. Broad-shouldered yet precise, the palate offers flavors of black cherry reduction, espresso bean, and Moroccan spice that scored 93 points. Extended maceration and 20 months in French oak (40% new) build formidable tannins balanced by 14.7% alcohol. Decant 2 hours for venison stew or dry-aged ribeye to experience its monumental depth. Cellar through 2038 for tertiary truffle notes to emerge.
